Postnatal Group

The postnatal group is run by experienced volunteers such as retired health visitors, ex midwives, breastfeeding counsellors etc.  The group is an informal group that offers a social opportunity for parents, as well as an opportunity to weigh their babies.  Should other needs arise, parents are signposted for additional support.  Parents are welcome to bring newborn babies and siblings up to school age.

Please also note:

  • The volunteers do not hold any responsibility for the parents or children who attend the drop in service.

  • The sole purpose of this community volunteer group is to offer a social venue for families with young babies to meet.

  • The volunteers do not offer any form of advice be it medical advice or otherwise. They provide a welcoming environment which encourages friendship and peer support.

  • The service includes the facility for parents to weigh their babies on scales recommended by Henfield Medical Centre. The scales and changing mat are routinely cleaned and lined by volunteers between each weighing but the weighing of the baby is entirely by the parent.
